What is expected of me?
You are expected to be open, honest, and committed to the gradual implementation of healthy habits between sessions.
Will I need to be weighed?
Yes, at the beginning of every session there will be a weigh-in. It is an opportunity to reflect on your recent eating habits. There are also options to have your body-fat measured. If you are on the Nutritional Reform Programme over telephone or Skype, you will be expected to have a set of reliable scales to use.
How frequent are the sessions?
This will depend on your own preferences, however I would normally recommend a session once a week, to once a fortnight. This will be discussed in the initial phone call. You will get 6 hours of 1-to-1 time, and some clients like to use them strategically.
Something similar to 2 weekly sessions, 3 fortnightly sessions, and the final session a month after has been quite successful. There will be support between sessions also, including email support, handouts and evidence-based articles
How much weight should I expect to lose?
This is a personal goal that will be discussed at the beginning of the programme. You will be encouraged to create a caloric deficit that allows you to lose 1-2 pounds a week - however it may come off slightly faster than that as the body adapts to change in the early stages. There are various, sustainable, evidence-based eating approaches which can be used to help you achieve this.
For individuals with a BMI of 30+, losing 5-10% of your bodyweight can lead to significant health benefits, including lower blood pressure and cholesterol. It can also decrease your chances of developing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. If you are looking to lose a considerable amount of weight in the long-term, an action plan will be put in place, with the option of follow up sessions (which will require an additional fee).
Am I right for this service?
This service is for anyone who is struggling with their weight. Maybe you are someone that struggles with emotional eating, or you might be someone that never feels full. Whatever your barriers are these will be talking points in the 1-to-1 sessions. Strategies will be put in place to overcome them.
